Water Polo returns to Summer Sports Day

The Old Guildfordians’ Water Polo Game on 24 February 2008 turned out to be a great success. The main reason behind this was the camaraderie between the old and current Guildford boys before, during and after the game. This was supported by a vocal audience of parents and spectators alike making the game a true spectacle. Although it was a disappointment that we could not hold the game on Guildford main school campus, Bayswater Waves certainly did not let us down, with the Barbeques perfectly positioned to be cooked on after the game. The game itself was played at a high tempo but this certainly was not a detriment to the nature to which the game was played, hard but fair with every boy getting out of the pool with a smile on their face. With such success comes the realisation that this type of event should be hosted every year. By keeping a day free each year for the water polo game to go ahead, this would mean a lot to not only the old boys of Guildford but also the current boys within the water polo fraternity. Skills as well as tactics can be improved upon when such a game is staged. The parents that attended the game would all agree that such an event can only be a plus in the Guildford calendar and a welcome yearly addition to any boy’s busy schedule.
